Recently, Holy Smokes expanded its offerings to include craft beers, now stocking over 800 varieties from local New England breweries. Being in the heart of a microbrewery-rich region, surrounded by Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts, it was a natural choice. New Hampshire boasts an exceptional selection of craft beers, and we’ve curated the best of the best, all available for sale. Holy Smokes was founded in 2004 by high school friends MJ and Bobby L., the same year the Red Sox broke their curse. Coming from a construction background in Boston, the duo worked tirelessly for five months, even sleeping on the store’s concrete floors as they were essentially homeless during that time. Their mission was to establish a cigar store with one of the largest walk-in humidors in New Hampshire, stocked with the finest premium cigars. Despite the risks in an area unfamiliar with such a concept, they pulled it off.

“I remember selling a Diamond Crown humidor to a housewife with a screw gun in one hand and paint all over my clothes. We were about a month away from our grand opening and didn’t even have the proper permits, but I wasn’t about to turn down a sale like that,” MJ recalls. From day one, business was booming, and the risk was paying off.

In 2004, Holy Smokes launched its website, www.holysmokescigars.com. Getting a site up and running back then was no easy task, but with persistence and a lot of fine-tuning, the site has grown stronger every day. We handle everything in-house because, let’s face it, a web developer isn’t likely to know a Padron Anniversary from a Double Corona. With over 20 years of eCommerce experience, we’ve built an online store that now offers thousands of cigars for purchase.

Today, with over 20 years in business, it’s incredible how quickly time has flown. We’ve not only survived but thrived through the 2009 economic collapse, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Clown World Biden Administration.
