With its incredibly unusual twist on an already uncommon notion in cigar production, the Asylum 13 Ogre is surely eye-catching. The madman behind Asylum and the world-famous Camacho brand, Christian Eiroa, said no to the classic barber pole, whereby most cigars use a lighter Habano or Connecticut wrapper with a darker maduro leaf to give it the distinctive striped appearance. Eiroa uses an extremely distinctive Habano and Candela wrapper to create that brown and green barber pole pattern.

The Ogre, like the original Asylum 13, is a Nicaraguan puro mix with nuances in tastes of spice, leather, and cocoa.  No gimmick here; it’s just straight up in your face with the difference in flavor as you move from the Habano wrapper to the candela wrapper. If you can handle the massive sizes of these monsters, then you’re in for a real experience.
